Caoimhin is a Lecturer Specialist in Special Care Dentistry at the School of Dental Science . Caoimhin completed specialist training in Special Care Dentistry (D. Ch. Dent.) in Trinity College Dublin, graduating with first class honours. His PhD studies focused on the oral health of older adults with disabilities (TCD, 2017). Caoimhin is passionate about health promotion for people with disabilities. His professional aim is to use research to improve the lives of vulnerable groups through improved access and outcomes of oral healthcare. Caoimhin leads the team at www.brushmyteeth.ie developing theory-informed interventions to change behaviours. Caoimhin also leads the BeSiDe Network, which aims to improve research, education and practice in Dental Behaviour Support. Caoimhin is president elect of Dental Anaesthesiology and Special Care Research group of IADR, a member of the Scientific Committee of the IADH, and, is on the editorial board of the Journal of Intellectual Disability Research.

Imke Kaschke studied dentistry at the Dental School of the Humboldt-University (Charitè) in Berlin, Germany from 1980 to 1985 and Public Health at the Free University Berlin from 2006 to 2008. She got a PhD in 1988 and a MPH in 2008. She worked as a senior physician in the Department for Conservative and Preventive Dentistry (Charité) from 1985 till 2009. In addition to her teaching responsibilities she led a special consulting hour for patients with special needs. In 2009 she starts to work as the Manager Healthy Athletes of Special Olympics Germany. Now she heads the department of health as the Director for Health. As Regional Clinical Advisor Special Smiles, she is a volunteer for the SOI Europe / Eurasia region.
She is a consultant for Patients with Special needs of the German Dental Association as well as the Vice-chairman of the German iADH “German Association for Dentistry for patients with special needs”. and a Council member of iADH for Germany. Her main fields in clinical work and research, for National and International publications and oral presentations are public health questions, preventive care and dental treatment for patients with special needs.
She has been honored for her work with several awards in German dentistry and in June 2023 with the International Golisano Leadership Award.

Professor Shun-Te Huang is an emeritus professor of Special Care Dentistry and faculty of Department of Oral Hygiene in the College of Dental Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University. His previous positions include director of Department of Oral Hygiene, Department of Dentistry, and dean of the College of Dental Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University, and president of the Taiwan Dental Association. Dr. Moss is Associate Professor at the ECU School of Dental Medicine. He also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Public Health in the Brody School of Medicine. Mark joined ECU in 2017 and currently serves as Director of the Division of Dental Public Health. Mark is a member of the ADA National Fluoridation Advisory Committee and a Diplomate in the American Board of Dental Public Health.
A native of Wisconsin, he received his dental degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee (1984), and an MS in Preventive Medicine/Epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (1991). Mark was Assistant Professor in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Rochester until 2002. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Rochester General Hospital in 2003 and took a clinical position in a rural underserved community in upstate New York for 12 years where care was delivered to residents in a Nursing Home and community-dwelling patients with special health care needs. Prior to coming to ECU he served in the Wisconsin Division of Public Health as Dental Director and became involved with Special Smiles as part of the Special Olympics program there.

Andreas Schulte graduated at University of Münster Dental School in Münster, Germany, received his PhD at Marburg University Dental School and became an Associate Professor at Heidelberg University Dental School in Heidelberg, Germany. Between 2015 and 2023 he was Professor for Special Care Dentistry at Witten/Herdecke University and Head of the only Department for Special Care Dentistry in Germany and is now Professor emeritus. His clinical expertise comprises oral surgery, conservative, pediatric and special care dentistry. Dr. Molina has been Chair Professor in Dental Materials Sciences (2009-2022) and Chair Professor in Special Care Dentistry (2018-2022) at the Dental School, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universidad Católica de Córdoba (Argentina). He has also been Associate Professor in Dental Materials Sciences (2005-2022) at The Faculty of Dentistry, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina). He is the former Director of the Dental School, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universidad Católica de Córdoba (2013-2016).
He holds two PhD’s and a number of peer reviewed publications (Scopus h-index 11). His first doctorate was in the field of Craniofacial Research related to oral characteristics of Argentinean aborigines with Down Syndrome. The doctoral thesis was defended in 1998 at the Faculty of Dentistry UNC. A second PhD was defended in 2014 at the Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands) related to the use of minimal intervention dentistry in Patients with Special Needs. In the last years he participated as an expert in several international consensus related to Dental Materials (Consensus on the use of glass ionomer cements), Cariology (Consensus on Management of caries lesions in Latin American and Caribbean countries) and Special Care Dentistry (Guidelines for oral care in patients living with EB).
He initiated and ran the DINOH project (Developing International Networks for Oral Health) between 2006 and 2016. This project was an online library of resources for researchers and teachers of SCD with a grant from the International Association for Disability and Oral Health (iADH). He has been the Chair of the iADH International Advisory Committee (2018-2020) and is currently chairing the iADH Scientific Committee. Dr. Gustavo Molina is the President elect of the iADH and will become the president of the association from August 2022.
He has more than 30 years of experience in providing a full range of care for people with disabilities. He worked under the direction and surveillance of Dr Rodolfo Castillo Morales, the world leader in Oral Motor Therapy and developed resources to aid and promote the use of Oral Motor Therapy across Europe and South America.
His main clinical and research topics of interest deal with non-restorative and minimally invasive caries treatment options, mainly applied to vulnerable groups. His aim is to achieve equitable access to care and equity in quality treatment outcomes for these groups.
Dr. Molina has been married with his wife and colleague Laura for 25 years and they have a daughter, Constanza (23) and a son, Joaquín (20).

Donald L. Chi is professor and the Lloyd and Kay Chapman Endowed Chair of Oral Health at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (Seattle, USA), where he is Associate Dean for Research. Dr. Chi is Co-Director of the NIDCR-funded T90/R90 training grant. He is dual board-certified in pediatric dentistry and dental public health. His NIH-funded research program focuses on understanding the causes of oral health inequities and addressing them through community-based behavioral interventions and evidence-based policies. He received the 2017 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award and was named Pediatric Dentist of the Year by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2018. Dr Cathy Makobe is the coordinator of Special Care Dentistry in the Department of Dental Management Sciences at the School of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria.
Her journey into the speciality of Special Care Dentistry was profoundly influenced by a personal experience related to disability within her own family. Initially perceived as a challenge, this unforeseen event ultimately unveiled itself as an opportunity that ignited Dr. Makobe's passion for Special Care Dentistry. Motivated by this experience, she established the Special Care Dentistry Unit at the university in 2018.
Dr. Makobe plays a vital role in education and training in Dentistry. She dedicates herself to teaching and training of final-year dental students by providing lectures on Special Care Dentistry and supervising their clinical sessions within the unit. At the postgraduate level, she enriches students and imparts her knowledge through lectures to students enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry in Special Care Dentistry.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Makobe's commitment to Special Care Dentistry extends to her involvement with the Special Olympics Special Smiles program. After completing training in 2012, she became the program's Clinical Director in South Africa, actively participating in nationwide dental screening events. Her exceptional dedication was recognised internationally when she served as a Regional Clinical Advisor for Africa and volunteered during the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria in 2017, among other global events.
Beyond academia and special events, Dr. Makobe is deeply engaged in community outreach, working to improve oral health awareness at disability centres, special schools, and NGOs. Her efforts focus on educating teachers, students, parents, and caregivers about oral health. She is also a member of the Presidential Working Group on Disability in South Africa since 2016, showcasing her ongoing advocacy for disability awareness and her substantial impact on dentistry and disability advocacy.

He gained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS- Restorative Dentistry) in 1992 and Membership in 2011 (MRACDS- Paediatric Dentistry). His main interest is paediatric sedation. After completing his thesis in general anaesthesia and further training in conscious sedation, he has lectured extensively on the topics of local anaesthesia, oral sedation, nitrous oxide sedation, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia. He is a regular speaker at international congresses, he has lectured annually at Harvard Continuing Education courses in the USA, and he has organized many international and national events on this topic. In 2016 he completed a Masters of International Business/Law at the University of Sydney, which has further diversified his overseas commitments.
Dr Alcaino’s experience with the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (http://www.iapdworld.org ) has resulted in a vast network of colleagues and contacts worldwide. Dr. Mark S. Wolff is the Morton Amsterdam Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Preventative and Restorative Dentistry. Formerly he was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive Care and Associate Dean for Pre-doctoral Clinical Education and Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at the New York University College of Dentistry. He has designed, developed, and implemented an extensive curriculum in caries risk assessment and has designed dental information systems to assist dental schools in monitoring the risk of the entire dental patient population. Dr. Wolff has completed numerous national and international research and oral health assessment programs. Dr. Wolff started his dental career as a private practitioner, creating a family practice that focused on the medically compromised and disabled patients of all ages. Dr. Wolff received his DDS degree and PhD in Oral Biology and Pathology from Stony Brook University. Prior to joining the NYU College of Dentistry in 2005, he served as Associate Dean at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where he helped develop and implement the first completely computerized dental record. Under his leadership, Penn Dental Medicine implemented extensive clinical programs of caries and health risk assessments, minimal intervention dentistry, tobacco cessation, evidence based dental education, community-based dentistry and dental care for all patients through the life-cycle.
